Is the Minnesota Fastpitch Academy a school or is it just camps and clinics?
Julie Standering's MFA is a softball consulting organization committed to the development of Minnesota youth softballers of all ages; through
player programs for skill development, leadership development of youth and high school coaches and the support of softball organizations
within Minnesota townships. This first of its kind consulting team features elite fastpitch softball training from the most experienced and
accomplished fastpitch coaches and players ever assembled in the state of Minnesota. Camps and clinics are a critical part of how the MFA
delivers its services to players, associations, high schools and coaches that it works with. And just like school, from time-to-time MFA students
will participate in written reviews and evaluations.
What services do you provide?
Our Services include:
- Try-outs/Player Evaluations for Communities
- Coach's Clinics
- Winter & Preseason Clinics
- Summer Player Camps
- N.C.A.A Recruiting Seminars
- Advanced Training - "Circle of Champions"
- Guest Coach" for Team Practices
- Private Consulting for Small Groups & One-on-One Mentoring
For more information see our Services section.
Why are your camps and clinics any better than others, is there really a difference in what you teach from what
others are teaching?
Absolutely! You can only teach what you know. If your experiences are limited, then the knowledge you transfer to your players will be equally as
limited. With all of our former All-American players, Olympic playing experience, and years of collegiate and high school coaching, the
knowledge and background of the MFA staff is richer than any other softball consulting group in the state of Minnesota, period!
Where are your training sessions?
Our training sessions are almost always within the community that we are serving. For example, if we are working with the Farmington Softball
Association, then all of our softball camps, clinics, and other services that we provide to the Farmington community, would be held at a facility
determined by the Association. And naturally, for the convenience of the parents and kids with the Farmington community, the Association will
select a facility within the community. Even with private sessions and small groups, more times than not we will travel to locations most
convenient for the students.
Can I sign up for camps and clinics in other communities?
Yes you can. We understand that with summer vacation and other commitments it just may not work out for you to make the scheduled camp in
your community, but you still want to attend a MFA summer camp. For just this reason, in our calendar section of our website we provide our
players with a full schedule of all our camps and clinics.
How experienced are the instructors?
The MFA features the most experienced team of instructors in the state of Minnesota. All of our instructors were decorated players in their day,
and have moved on to coach at the high school or collegiate level. Julie Standering herself has an unprecedented fastpitch bio and access to
the finest minds in the game. We also provide the best ratios of students-to-instructors in the business.
How much personal attention will I get?
It all depends on the service you have selected. For camps and clinics for example, we will staff to meet a player-to-coach ratio is 6:1. And as the
training and instruction increases in intensity, the ratios improve. It is the goal of the MFA to provide as much personal attention as possible.
How do I qualify for the Circle of Champions?
The MFA “Circle of Champions” is an advanced field and classroom training program, targeted for excellent fastpitch players, ages 13-18,
looking for an elite experience that will test them well ahead of the curve. The program is the most advanced training offered by the MFA. The
majority of the athletes in this program will be recommended by high school or summer club coaches or will be invited by our consulting team. If
a player has not been recommended or invited, but desires to attend the training, they will be required to apply and provide at least 2 references.
What will it cost?
Though most of what we do has standardized pricing attached, in many cases our prices will vary. Our standard pricing is listed with its specific
service, in the services section on our website. If a price is not listed for one of our services, then it probably means the service is intended as
part of an overall solution for a Township/Association or high school or summer team. In these cases, price is negotiable, based upon any
number of variables.
How do I register?
For your convenience we have provided an online registration option right through our website; but you can also register through one of our
instructors by providing us with your contact information, via this option on our website as well.
How do I pay?
Paying is made simple through our simple registration and payment process service through our site.
