Services for Associations and Town Teams

Services for Townships and Associations

The exponential growth of fastpitch in the state of Minnesota over the last ten years has been greatly aided by the work of Townships & Associations. The goal of the MFA is to work closely with Townships and Associations to craft a unique package of services that would address the overall developmental needs of their community. Townships and Associations can build their custom program from among the following services:

  • Try-outs & Player Evaluation for Communities
  • Coach’s Clinics
  • Winter & Pre-Season Clinics
  • Summer Player Camps
  • Guest Coach for Team Practices
  • Private Consulting for Small Groups & One-on-One Mentoring

Try Outs and Player Evaluations

Accurately evaluating each and every player within the Association is the foundation to a successful program. Good data from a reputable independence source will not only serve to insulate and protect your Association and coaches, but will provide you with the data you need to make the best decisions possible. MFA’s superior consulting team will carefully and thoroughly assess each softball participant in your program, across all relevant skills. Through “meet & greet” with parents and athletes, addressing concerns, and proving feedback, we can achieve our goal of making it a “good experience” for all involved.

Coaches Clinics

To accelerate the development of individual players, it is critical that the teachers (or coaches) of the teams within the Association, know as much about the game as possible. The best way to insure that they do is to consistently train the trainers. The MFA will work with your Association to design a coach’s instructional clinic that meets your needs. The 3-hour clinics can be any season Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer) and will be hosted by highly knowledgeable speakers. Coach’s manuals on all drills covered will be made available for all participants. Coach’s Clinics are a great opportunity for growth for players as well. Consequently, player participation is welcome. Good knowledgeable coaches
make the game safer and more fun for all.

Winter and Pre-season Clinics

Extraordinary work can be accomplished through strong off-season work-out programs! The MFA Winter Clinics will be available to individual players as part of their Township or High School MFA service package. These 6-12 weeks of instruction are intended to be a custom fit for the needs of players within each unique Township or High School organization. The MFA will work closely with each High School/Association to determine timing, length and number of clinics (per weeks) as well as the specific skills to be covered (fielding, throwing, catching, pitching, hitting & slap hitting). One of the goals of the Winter Clinics is to give players lots of attention, including ongoing written evaluations.

Great Summer Camps are at the heart of what the MFA delivers! Skill development, exciting new drills, great staff, intense training and performance evaluation are all part of the fun! The MFA offers two types of Summer Camps to Minnesota Associations: Basic Camps and Advanced Camps. Basic Summer Camps are focused on softball fundamentals. "Campers" receive 70% general instruction and 30% advanced instruction on all phases of the game. The Advanced Summer Camps are designed to provide a broader challenge. Campers will spend 70% of the time on advanced concepts (like back handed fielding, diving, throwing on the run, hitting the outside pitch, mental enhance, rules, etc...) and 30% of their time on softball fundamentals. While the Basic Summer Camps are 3 days in duration, with 3 hour of instruction each day; the Advanced Summer Camps deliver 6 hours of instruction across 2 days. Player/coach ratios for all Summer Camps are 1:6, and campers are split up by age (7-13, 14-18). Players can register for Summer Camps on their own or through their Township or High School MFA
service package.

Sometimes hearing the same old message from a fresh face can make all the difference in the world! And sometimes just hearing the message from a guest can hold a kids attention a bit longer. Either way, the MFA can supply your teams with that fresh face. Whether it’s a former college or high school coach, or one of our decorated former college players, we’ve got the right match for a fun chalk talk & skill sessions that will keep your players riveted and totally focused on the message at hand!

Private Consulting

To any and all of its partners, the MFA offers the most intimate of learning sessions available in the marketplace: custom design, private consulting for individuals and/or small groups. Because of the one-on-one nature of the meetings, private mentoring provides the greatest opportunity for student growth. Each sessions is packed with information and knowledge specifically designed to increase the softball and leadership IQ of the student, while focusing on their specific area of developmental need. The custom nature of the sessions allows the student or group the ability to perfectly design the training to your specific needs, with an emphasis on the following skills

  • Fielding
  • Throwing
  • Catching
  • Pitching
  • Hitting
  • Slap hitting
