Force Coach Emma Hylen Named All Mideast Region

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior Emma Hylen was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region Third Team today, the organization announced.

Hylen has been tremendous for the Cyclones during the 2019 campaign, putting up a 3.03 ERA with a 15-9 record on the season. The native of Roseville, Minn., struck out a team-high 94 batters on the season in 159.2 innings of work. Hylen, already Iowa State's career leader in saves with nine, continues to climb Iowa State's all-time rankings in several categories. Her 41 career wins are No. 5 in ISU history. She is also among the all-time leaders in appearances (No. 3- 141), games started (No. 4 - 76), innings pitched (No. 3 - 540.1) and strikeouts (No. 10 - 298).

Hylen is coming off one of the finest outings of her career in Iowa State's 2-0 upset of No. 8 Texas. She put in a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits and no runs in 7.0 innings of work. It was her 11th complete game of the season, and her second shutout.

The NFCA awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2019 NFCA Division I All-American squads.

The 2019 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 4 p.m. CT on Wednesday, May 29, via NFCA.org.
